Infant Feeding Peer Support Volunteers

If you live in Salford, have experience of breastfeeding your baby for at least 12 weeks, and are interested in this exciting opportunity to support parents to breastfeed, we would really like to hear from you.

We provide the successful applicants with FREE Breastfeeding Peer Supporter training, delivered by a UNICEF accredited charity.

To qualify as an OCN Breastfeeding Peer Support Volunteer and to volunteer within the Salford Infant Feeding Peer Support Service, all candidates will be required to complete the following:

  • Online Breastfeeding Peer Support training of 20 hours split over 10 sessions, with a min of 80% attendance at the sessions.
  • Approx 10 hours of self study.
  • Eight Home-Start online training modules- approx 1 hr per module.
  • Monthly Ongoing training sessions (min 80% attendance) following the initial training.
  • A clear Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and reference check

In return we require a commitment of 3 hrs of volunteering time per week  (inclusive of travel).  Travel expenses will be reimbursed.

We regret that due to the requirements of the role, where necessary, childcare arrangements will need to be made for the duration of the training course and volunteering time.

Training is due to start in September 2025.  Dates TBC.
