HSTSW Parent Infant Mental Health Training
There is a four session face to face PIMH course where we explore many more concepts of PIMH and how it can be embedded in your volunteer support:
1. Attachment theory and its importance
2. The importance of brain development
3. Reflective Functioning
4. The Ante-Natal period
5. Parental mental health and its impact on families
6. Baby states and stages of development
7. The impact on a child’s longer term outcomes if needs are not met
8. How Volunteers can support all of this If you are interested in completing this course, please let one of the staff know.
PIMH trained coordinators are available to speak to in regards to PIMH. Their role is to raise awareness and facilitate the importance of parent infant relationships and emotional well-being in families with a child under 2 years. They will support you as volunteers to support families and maintain a PIMH focus.
